QBE Re has announced the addition of Andrew Guarnori (pictured above, left) and Ashish “Ash” Ahluwalia (pictured above, right) to its team in two newly established positions, marking a significant step in the company’s leadership restructuring.
Guarnori is set to join QBE Re as head of underwriting oversight from Swiss Re, where he served in various casualty leadership roles, most recently as deputy head of financial lines within the Global P&C Reinsurance team. With over two decades at Swiss Re and more than 30 years in the underwriting field, Guarnori has substantial experience in underwriting, team leadership, and portfolio management.
His career includes tenures at notable re/insurance groups such as St Paul Re (Travelers), Europa Re (Berkshire Hathaway), and GE Insurance Solutions. Starting January 2024, Guarnori will be responsible for providing comprehensive underwriting oversight across QBE Re’s operations, subject to regulatory approval.
Ahluwalia, previously head of reserving at QBE’s actuarial team, has been promoted to global head of performance & portfolio analytics. Ahluwalia’s promotion reflects QBE Re’s focus on enhancing portfolio management practices, leveraging his extensive global experience in consultancy, reserving, and performance management. Ahluwalia will assume his new role in August 2024, pending regulatory approval.
These appointments also follow the earlier announcement of Mark Jackaman as general manager, London, completing the senior leadership restructuring at QBE Re.
“Having Andrew and Ash join QBE Re further evidences our commitment to professionalism, modernization and delivering for our cedants. We have a clear vision for QBE Re and the appointments of Ash and Andrew will allow us to execute on this vision given their focus on underwriting quality and portfolio balance,” QBE Re managing director Chris Killourhy said.
