Dax Craig began his career as a serial entrepreneur while he was still a graduate student, when he founded Xertex Technologies, a wireless technology company that was acquired by Centurion Wireless in 2000.

Craig also co-founded Valen Analytics, where he served as CEO for 15 years. Currently, Craig serves as president of Pie Insurance, which he co-founded in 2017. Since its launch, Pie has grown its partner network to more than 4,000 agencies.

Craig’s drive to create and innovate has landed him a slot on Insurance Business America’s Hot 100 list, which recognizes the top professionals in the industry.

“Building things is in my blood,” Craig told IBA. “I’m a creator and love developing teams and products that can bring concepts to life. My career has not been by chance. Instead, it’s progressed because of what I’ve learned over the years and the challenges I’ve overcome.”

Pie Insurance was created to provide commercial insurance to small businesses and to address a gap in the market – a lack of adequate insurance options for small business owners.

“My connection to our small business customers at Pie runs deep, as I understand firsthand the challenges of starting and maintaining a business,” Craig said. “I’ll always carry with me the entrepreneurial spirit and commitment required to build a company. Doing the right thing always means I always put people first and business second.”

Craig said that another reason for his success is his willingness to surround himself with talented people.

“Our team members, whom we call ‘Pie-oneers,’ have made Pie my dream business to build,” he told IBA. “Their dedication, innovation, and hard work have been instrumental in Pie’s success. These Pie-oneers have built a company that not only delivers value to our customers and partners – my team makes it easy to show up every day.”
