Company announces two promotions and one new hire
Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) has bolstered its North American claims team with two promotions and one new addition.
The company has announced the promotion of Courtney Koch to senior vice president of healthcare and casualty claims and Kathryn Ridenour to senior vice president of professional and construction claims. In addition, Anthony Pizzonia has joined BHSI as vice president of healthcare claims.
“It is my pleasure to welcome three teammates – all with BHSI’s requisite excellent capability and strong character – to their new roles,” said Roberty Romeo, head of claims for North America at BHSI.
Koch previously served as vice president of healthcare and casualty claims at BHSI. She joined the company nearly 10 years ago as a senior complex claims examiner, and has since served in roles of increasing responsibility. Koch is an attorney with 17 years of industry experience, with a focus on claims.
“Courtney has a proven record of success helping our customers and brokers successfully navigate challenging times,” Romeo said. “She is exceptionally qualified to lead our team in delivering claims excellence.”
Ridenour previously served as BHSI’s vice president of architects and engineers (A&E) and contractors protective professional (CPPI) claims. She joined BHSI in 2020 as assistant vice president of CPPI claims. Ridenour has nearly 20 years of experience managing A&E and contractor-related claims. In her new role, she will continue to oversee A&E and CPPI claims while also overseeing construction claims, including homebuilders’ liability. She is based in Boston.
“Kathryn is and has been an excellent partner working with our underwriters and customers to enhance policy language in step with evolving claims and litigation trends,” Romeo said. “In her expanded role, she will have an even greater impact on our business, our team, and our customers and brokers.”
Pizzonia has more than 30 years of experience managing and overseeing healthcare claims. Prior to joining BHSI, he served as head of medical risk at another national insurer. He is based in New York.
“I am also so pleased to welcome Anthony to BHSI’s claims team as we continue to bring our ‘claims is our product’ philosophy to the marketplace,” Romeo said. “He is the consummate claims professional.”
Last month, BHSI announced the appointment of Jeff Jubera as head of surety claims. In October, the company appointed Angela Meyer as head of product liability for North America.
